Finding A Puppy In The US

Lucas Terrier puppies are very rare and endangered in the US.

Lucas Terriers can not be made by simply crossing any Norfolk with any Sealyham. Only dogs tracing their ancestry back to Sir Jocelyn's Kennels are true Lucas Terriers. Each comes with a five generation pedigree either sealed and notarized by the US Club or watermarked by the UK Club.

Each true Lucas Terrier is assigned a unique letter and number combination at birth and careful records of all dogs are kept in a secure location. Breeders in the US must abide by a very strict Code of Ethics ensuring the betterment of each generation to come through strict testing of their breeding stock and a host of other safeguards in place to protect you.

Please do not be fooled by someone offering you a "bargain" Lucas Terrier or saying it does not matter that he or she is a club member or can't produce these documents....IT DOES MATTER. Only club members are eligible to register their dogs as true Lucas Terriers. If you purchase from someone that isn't a club member you buy at your own risk.

 Current Status With Puppy Supply

  • 2010 was a banner year for us with 5 litters being born.
  • 2011 was a hard year for the club with only one litter being born - consisting of only two puppies.
  • We are expecting 2012 to be lean again.

How Long Will I Have To Wait?

It depends. Some times you can get lucky and find a puppy right away. Other times you have to wait a while. Patience is a virtue if you want to be a part of the Lucas Terrier family.

Do Adults Ever Come Up For Adoption Or Rescue?

Sometimes they do. We place or puppies very carefully up-front. People that are lucky enough to be chosen for a Lucas think of them as family members. But circumstances change. If you would like to be considered for an adult please ask.

If You Live Outside the US or Canada

Because we are a rare breed fighting for survival, all of our pups bred here, stay here. We don't ship puppies out of North America.

Still Want to Get On Our Puppy List?
